Have These People Just Gone MAD????

So what am I not getting?

So Ellen and Portia get a "dog" (a dust mop on legs is not really a dog, IMHO). They pass the cavity search that these doggie adoption places feel the need to do. It doesn't work out. They fail to abide by the agreement they have to sign in blood, the adoption agency confiscates the dog, and all hell breaks loose. We get to watch Ellen sob on TV, the adoption agency gets threats, and everyone goes postal.

Meanwhile, Mr. Compassionate Conservative drop-kicks an expansion of a program designed to offer coverage to kids whose families need that help, because he's such an *sshole he seems to think the private sector is doing the job just fine, thanks. And there are so many mean heartless b*st*rds in Congress with GREAT health insurance that the veto can't be overridden. And no one seems to give a damn.

Except those morally bankrupt types that think it's a good idea to ream a 12-year-old boy and his parents for using the program.

Yeesh. If people gave half as much of a sh*t about their fellow humans as they do about animals, wouldn't this world be a better place?

I suppose I should brace myself for the screeching I'm about to get for suggesting not only that people should care about other people at least as much as they do animals, but also that if someone is going to weep publicly on their own television show, how about using that bully pulpit for something that might actually matter, like, say...........the WAR.
