Taos to Farmington

We wake to banana pancakes and bacon, coffee, juice, fruit, and great conversation with people from Santa Fe via Annapolis, Durango, Denver, and ABQ. We win the distance prize.

We head out. We pick up picnic supplies at the Albertson's. Can't get liquor before noon on Sunday in New Mexico, but the San Pellegrino is just fine.

The first place of note is the Rio Grande Gorge. I have no problem walking the length of the bridge. About a third down, Andrew decides it ain't for him and he drives across. (Picture 1)

We continue on. There are hundreds of tarantulas on the road. Andrew wants to stop and get one and I tell him he's nuts. As it happens, we pass some idiot man who is doing exactly that (I could see a woman in the car, probably telling him he's an idiot who deserves to be run over right after he's bitten by a monster spider). We drive along.

We get to the Navajo dam and have our picnic lunch (Pictures 2 and 3)
Is it just me, or is the sky bigger and bluer in New Mexico?
